(NewsNation) — Two lawmakers in Minnesota were shot in targeted incidents on Saturday, according to reports.

Minnesota state Sen. John Hoffman and Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman were reportedly shot in their homes by a gunman impersonating a police officer. Hoffman's wife was also shot.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz described the shootings as "targeted" in a social media post.

"I’ve been briefed this morning on an ongoing situation involving targeted shootings in Champlin and Brooklyn Park," Gov. Walz posted on X. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety and local law enforcement are on the scene. We will share more information soon."

Lisa Demuth, Minnesota's Speaker of the House called the incident an "evil attack."
