A total of 48,545 Primary Six students participated in the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) system for the 2026-27 school year, the Education Bureau (EDB) said on Monday.

Under central allocation, 91 per cent of students got one of their top three choices, while 74 per cent were admitted to their first choice, the EDB said, adding that both figures matched last year’s.

Meanwhile, 68 per cent of students secured their first choice under discretionary places, which admit students based on academic and interview performance.

This year’s satisfaction rate stood at 84 per cent, based on the number of students awarded a discretionary place and those who got their first choice through central allocation.

Including students who were allocated a school in their top three choices, the satisfaction rate reached 95 per cent.

The EDB is set to release the SSPA results on Tuesday.

The bureau said Primary Six students should return to their primary school on Tuesday to collect their allocation and admission slips, and register at their allocated secondary schools on Thursday or Friday.
