(NewsNation) — Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland has died, the team announced Thursday.
He was 24. No cause of death has been released.
"Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization. Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family," the Cowboys said in a statement.
The NFL is contact with the Cowboys and is offering counseling resources to his teammates and coaches, the league said in a statement.
On Monday's game against the Arizona Cardinals, Kneeland blocked a punt and scored his only career touchdown. He was a second-round draft pick last year, and had played in 18 games.
