A fire in a warehouse broke out in Hong Kong’s San Tin area in the early hours of Tuesday, with explosions heard and a large plume of smoke billowing into the sky.
A warehouse fire broke out in San Tin in the early hours of June 23, 2026. Photo: NTACL, via Facebook.The Fire Services Department (FSD) told HKFP that it received reports of a blaze at 2.25am and arrived at San Tin’s Shek Wu Wai San Tsuen at 2.38am.
Multiple explosions were reportedly heard. Images from the scene showed huge flames and black smoke billowing out of the site.
The FSD sent 70 firefighters and ambulance personnel to the scene, with the fire put out by 4.27am. No injuries were reported.
Local media reported that authorities initially feared people were trapped in the fire but later confirmed that a man and a woman had successfully evacuated on their own.
Firefighters had to draw water from fire hydrants several hundreds metres away from the scene due to its remote location, local media reported.
It is suspected that the fire began among old electronic devices and clutter, according to police.
