(NewsNation) — SpaceX is making another attempt to launch its Super Heavy Starship rocket after a scrubbed attempt Sunday evening.

The 11th attempt to launch the fully reusable rocket will happen at 7:58 p.m. ET as SpaceX hopes to restore confidence in the Starship.

There have been multiple failures in the effort to prove the rocket can deliver on the promise of carrying larger payloads at a lower cost.

Upcoming NASA mission will simulate life on Mars

The rocket's success is also critical to NASA's efforts to put humans on the moon once again and work to develop a presence there to serve as a jumping-off point for deeper space exploration.

The spacecraft weighs in at 400 pounds and has 33 engines. During the test flight, the rocket will launch into the densest part of Earth's atmosphere.

At two minutes and 28 seconds, the Super Heavy booster will detach and simulate a landing over the Gulf of Mexico. The Starship will continue up to orbital velocities and then reenter over the Indian Ocean.

The Starship will deploy mock Starlink satellites during the mission and is expected to test-fire an engine while in space.
