And…exhale. May could be the steadying month we’ve all been craving after the nonstop chaos of 2026 so far. With the Sun in earthy Taurus until May 20, there’s finally space to be in the moment instead of reacting to yet another curveball. 

We’re emerging from February’s Saturn-Neptune meetup and Fire Horse gallop, which rolled right into Mercury retrograde, March’s eclipse turbulence, then an intense April with seven planets packed into Aries. That was capped off with the arrival of Uranus into Gemini—for the first time since 1949—a fast-paced time of innovation that will last until 2033.

Could May help us metabolize it all?

We’re not pinning ALL of our hopes on that prospect just yet. May is bookended by two full moons, on the 1st and the 31st, making it a “blue moon” month. And most likely, a dynamic one! The month opens with a May 1 Scorpio full moon that coincides with Beltane, an ancient Celtic festival that was celebrated with fire rituals symbolizing purification and protection.

May will also be the first full month that Uranus is in Gemini, and from May 20 onward, the first time since the 1940s that Uranus and the Sun have been in Gemini together. The planet of disruption and innovation has shifted from earthy Taurus (where it first entered in 2018) into air sign Gemini. Get ready for technology, AI, robotics, and all things future-focused to begin moving at an even faster pace. Communication and communities, all ruled by locally-sourced Gemini, will take new forms as we progress through the second half of the decade.

On May 6, shadowy Pluto begins its annual retrograde, a five-month backspin that lasts until October 15. As the icy dwarf planet reverses through techie Aquarius, we’ll see more glimpses of the shadow side of the “AI revolution” (the Elon Musk-Sam Altman courtroom showdown kicking off the month is just the beginning…). Aquarius rules groups, friendships and networks, and Pluto’s reversal could have us all questioning our alliances and their true motives.

The second half of May 2026’s astrology

Midmonth, the May 16 Taurus new moon could bring a welcome reset. It’s a fortuitous moment to begin building something concrete: a fresh financial goal, an artistic project or a new daily ritual. Taurus rules the slow-growth investments that blossom over time, so don’t expect instant results from your efforts. Give your endeavors until the Taurus full moon on October 26, six months from now, to bear fruit.
