(NewsNation) — Photographs and names of the missing girls from Camp Mystic near Hunt, Texas, are beginning to emerge as officials search for the minors who are unaccounted for.

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said at least 20 children were missing from Kerr County as of Friday evening following flash flooding in Central Texas.

NewsNation national security contributor Tracy Walder, whose daughter is friends with some of the missing campers, offered a potentially hopeful update Friday afternoon. She said some rescues of missing campers had been occurring.

The relay of information has been a challenge, she said, because campers did not have access to technology during their stay at camp.

“Technology is actually not allowed there,” she said. “That’s why communication and information is kind of a bit difficult to come by at this point in time.”

A photo posted to X purportedly shows the helicopter rescue of two girls, but the picture could not immediately be verified.
