(NewsNation) — Retired Gen. Charles "Chuck" Wald has called the ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel a "good move" on Iran's part.

"I think they got the message from the B-2 attack," Wald said on NewsNation's "Elizabeth Vargas Reports."

Wald added that he was cautious of Iran's agreement to the ceasefire because he believes the Iranians have never kept their word in situations similar to this conflict.

The ceasefire news comes as Iran launched retaliatory airstrikes on a U.S. air base in Qatar on Monday. On Saturday, the U.S. launched airstrikes on three of Iran's nuclear sites: Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan. President Donald Trump called the attack " a spectacular military success."

"I think the Iranians have been put way back on this program, potentially five to 10 years," Wald said. "The Israelis have done a superb job of getting the area ready for the U.S. to attack."

In a post on Truth Social, Trump congratulated the two nations for coming to an agreement to end what he called "the 12-Day War."
