(NewsNation) — Taylor Swift is engaged to Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, the couple announced on Instagram on Tuesday.
The pop star wrote on her social media page, "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married."
Photos show Kelce down on one knee proposing to the "Lover" singer in a garden adorned with pink and white roses.
Swift also shows off her massive engagement ring in the photo.
According to E! News, the "1989" singer's ring is an "Old Mine Brilliant Cut" designed by Artifex Fine Jewelry's Kindred Lubeck.
Jewelry experts estimate that the ring costs between $950,000 to $1.27 million, Us Weekly reports.
In the post, which has 9.8 million likes and counting, Swift added the song "So High School" from "The Tortured Poets Department."
In the song, Swift sings about being swept up in romance with a love reminiscent of falling in love in high school.
"And in a blink of a crinkling eye/I'm sinking, our fingers entwined/Cheeks pink in the twinkling lights/Tell me 'bout the first time you saw me/I'll drink what you think, and I'm high," she sings in the song, in which many of her fans thought was about her relationship with Kelce.
Patrick and Brittany Mahomes reacted to the engagement news on Instagram Stories.
“Two of the most genuine people meet and fall in love,” Brittany wrote. “Just so happy for these two."
Patrick Mahomes, Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs partner, reposted the video with three red heart emojis.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's relationship timeline
Kelce and Swift began dating and went public with their relationship in October 2023, when the pair was seen holding hands in New York City after a "Saturday Night Live" afterparty, according to People magazine at the time.
In July 2023, the football player was seen at her "Eras Tour" at Arrowhead Stadium, where he was watching the show from his private box as well as trading friendship bracelets with fans, People reports.
Kelce had said on his "New Heights" podcast that he didn't get to connect with Swift after her show.
"I was disappointed that she doesn't talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs she sings, so I was a little butthurt that I didn't get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her," he said in 2023.
Since going public, Swift had been seen at multiple Kansas City Chiefs games, including two Super Bowls.
In her first Super Bowl appearance, while dating Kelce in 2024, Swift flew from Japan, following her "Eras Tour" stop in the country, to Las Vegas for Super Bowl LVIII. She arrived in the U.S. hours before the game's kickoff and was there to cheer on Kelce and the Chiefs, who went on to win the big game.
In a recent appearance on the "New Heights" podcast, where the "Style" singer announced her 12th studio album, "The Life of a Showgirl," the pair confirmed that Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid helped bring them together.
"Whatever Andy Reid says, we're gonna stand by. He said it, that's what happened," Swift said on the episode, with Kelce adding, "Cupid. Big Red. It's all the same."
