Tian Xiaoying, a 50-year-old cleaner, appeared at Eastern Magistrates’ Courts on Friday morning.

Wearing a pair of black-rimmed glasses and a black-coloured jacket, she looked unsettled and spoke softly when the court asked if she understood the details of the alleged offence, local media reported.

Tian was brought to court following an incident on Tuesday night, in which she got into a fight with another woman. Both of them had just alighted from a minibus that had pulled into a stop at Wah Fu Estate, near Pok Fu Lam.

According to a police statement, officers received a report at around 10.30pm that two women were fighting at a minibus stop in the estate. When officers arrived, they found a 53-year-old woman lying on the ground with head injuries.

The woman, who was unconscious, was rushed to Queen Mary Hospital and pronounced dead at 11.22pm.

According to a Judiciary charge sheet, Tian was charged with murdering Fung Chuk-lam at the No. 63A minibus stop outside Wah Chui House, Wah Fu (II) Estate, in Aberdeen.

The case was adjourned to September 4 for another mention to await laboratory and autopsy reports.

Tian was remanded in custody. She did not apply for bail, media reported.
